FOR SELF-EMPLOYED CONSULTANTS
A positioning statement has one job: make the right prospect stop and say "tell me more." Yours probably isn't doing it.
PositionTight + two 30-minute working sessions with AJ Riedel gives you one that does — built, tested with real people, and refined based on what they actually said.
Name and email. No credit card, nothing to cancel.
First, who I am. I'm AJ Riedel. I spent 35 years as a self-employed consultant — consumer research for Cuisinart, Calphalon, and a long list of Fortune 50 brands — before I started coaching consultants for a living. I've since studied what separates the ones who keep a full pipeline from the ones who don't. It starts with one sentence.
The Problem
There's no way to tell how your positioning is landing from where you're sitting. A prospect isn't going to tell you that your positioning didn't feel relevant to them. They may say "interesting" and change the subject. Or most likely, they won't say anything at all; they'll just move on. So you may not realize how many leads you're missing out on because your positioning statement isn't doing its job.
That one sentence is the foundation everything else sits on. When it doesn't resonate with the right prospect, everything you build on top of it underperforms: your LinkedIn profile doesn't get read, your networking conversations end with "let's stay in touch," your referral sources send you people who aren't the right fit, and you struggle to generate enough leads to keep your pipeline full.
Want proof that a positioning statement that resonates with your prospects is essential?
My research revealed a correlation between positioning statements and performance. Nearly every consultant with a weak or incomplete positioning statement was a low performer. Nearly every high performer had an effective "I help" statement.
Why It's Hard
Writing a positioning statement that does land is harder than it looks. You're too close to your own expertise to see what actually matters to a client. You slip into describing what you do instead of what they get. And most consultants have never sat down and pinned down the specific problem they solve. So they write something that feels good enough and move on.
Good enough doesn't attract. Specific does.
And you're not going to fix it with a template. Most of what you grab in a bundle gets downloaded and never opened. This one you'll finish — and it's one of the few that can actually change what you earn.
THE FIX
That's what PositionTight fixes.
PositionTight is an AI-guided app that walks you through building, testing, and refining your "I help" statement — step by step — until you have one that actually works.
It's the same process I teach in Revenue Accelerator, my six-month program for self-employed consultants building to six figures. More than one client has told me that refining their positioning statement was the most valuable part of the whole program.
It's also the process I ran on myself. My own positioning statement came out of it, and I know it resonates with my ideal clients because I tested it the same way you're about to.
One difference from the program: in Revenue Accelerator you do this on worksheets. Here the AI does it with you, and it pushes back. When an answer is vague, it tells you. A worksheet takes whatever you give it.
How It Works
1. You build it.
PositionTight takes you through the four components of a positioning statement that actually works: who you serve, the problem you solve, what makes you different, and the outcome you deliver. The app assembles your "I help" statement and walks you through refining it down to one version you'd actually say out loud.
2. You test it.
You get a personalized interview script so you know exactly what to ask ideal clients. You log their responses in the app. The Sharpen button revises your statement based on what you heard — not based on what you hoped they'd say.
3. You refine it with me.
Two sessions bookend the process. The first makes sure you go into prospect conversations with a sharp statement. The second makes sure you come out of them with something better. Each one opens up when you get to it — the app tells you when.
These are working sessions, not sales calls. Thirty minutes on your words, both times. I'm not going to pitch you anything.

WHAT YOU END UP WITH
The answer to the question "so what do you do?" to use at networking events, on a podcast, when you meet a prospect for coffee, on discovery calls, in your LinkedIn profile, on your website. One you know works, because you watched real ideal clients react to it and revised it based on what they said. And no more wondering whether your positioning is the thing holding you back.
Get your positioning right and everything you've been grinding on — LinkedIn, networking, referrals, sales conversations — stops being such a grind.

How the sessions work. You don't book them up front. When you finish building your statement in the app, you'll get an email from me with the booking link for the first session. When you've done your interviews and sharpened your "I help" statment, it'll be time to schedule your second working session.
One deadline: you've got 21 days to finish part one and claim your first session. Start today if you can. You already know how this goes otherwise — it sits in a tab, the 21 day window closes, and three months from now your positioning is exactly where it is today. Twenty-one days is plenty of time. It's also plenty of time to forget.Â
